Fortune Favors the Bold! I bring great big balls of glory! The Captain's Log
"The Soul selects Her own society."

-Emily Dickinson

I'm not going to lie. My mother can vouch for this, too, because she's been laughing at the time I've spent here on the computer due to finding gold. Gold, that is, in the form of those music videos from the 80's I was talking about. There is something about taking a long trip down memory lane, to a time where I was at my happiest. Pretty much anyone can tell you that those moments before sweat glands develop are best.

So, what have I been playing here and there? Believe it or not, I did dabble in seeing the Kids Incorporated video, Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse Of the Heart," Paul Carrack's "Don't Shed A Tear," and Michael McDonald's "Sweet Freedom." Would you believe that Billy Crystal was considered a hunk back in the 80's? I think my dad played "Sweet Freedom" a lot during my time growing up.

One of the strangest but quite funny moments in visiting this jukebox of 80's videos was coming across an obvous Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan's dreamboat, Spike, in his/her use for music fantasy. Survivor's "Eye Of the Tiger" song played while highlighting Spike's best moments in the show, whether it's fighting or just walking in slow motion while wearing that duster. Spike was cool, I'll admit.

All in all, I've had a great day as I'm close to being a little tired of seeing 80's music videos now. Yes, I need some time to rest after seeing Pretty Poison's "Catch Me (I'm Falling)" or Mr. T telling us to treat our mothers right.

Sammy, I think the whole point in why music videos were so great at that time is that it was so new. There were thousands of ideas just dying to be expressed or played out in a song. Some worked while others just made me wonder why even do that. Take the obvious subject of sex. It worked in Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" but wouldn't do anything for Simply Red's "If You Don't Know Me By Now" yet it seems like directors always have to use this subject to get attention.

Still, my classics will always be Yes's "Owner Of A Lonely Heart," Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone," and Human League's "Don't You Want Me." There are others that can get close but not in the league that these 3 are in.

Enough! No more 80's discussion for now. All I need now is a website that plays all the old toy commercials from back then. G.I.Joe, Transformers, Voltron, Smurfs (Gargamel was such a loser since he couldn't catch little blue people), and Jem And the Holograms. Yes, I liked Jem but only for the theme song. Does my enjoyment of He-Man make me have the possibility of being gay?

Editor: "Everyone on that show was on steroids! How could we compete with a young girl's fantasy in those days!?!"

Remember Saved By the Bell? If so, you'll know who Screech is and how your heart must hurt knowing that a bad real estate deal has him being kicked out of his home. No joke. Screech or his real name, Dustin Diamond, needs money bad. $15 a t-shirt while $20 will find you with an autograph on it. Look him up if you want to help. I know Sammy is reaching for her wallet right now.

FYI: I miss Sara. But you already know that.

Of course, this being the year a new Pirates Of the Carribean in theaters, Keira is going to have her gorgeous mug splashed on mags all over. Got my copies of In Style and Sci-Fi to help me through these lonely nights here in my town. Love it when a British girl feels free to say "fuck" a lot.

And Africa. What is being done to help Sudan? Nothing. Watching a bit of Anderson Cooper tonight makes me wonder why I feel as if only celebrities care about this country. Angelina Jolie takes it into herself to help as best she can by using her celebrity in highlighting the issues plaguing Africa. But, yeah, the U.S. is more interested in fattening up corporations by taking over Iraq.

It's weird. Remember in the 80's where Ethiopia was such a big issue? While growing up, I'd see hundreds of posters where a malnurished kid would look into the photographer's eyes and all you'd see is how sad it was. Nobody seems to care anymore so I'm impressed that George Clooney and Angelina are trying to make things known. I'm so sick of everything being about Iraq but no one gives a fuck about Africa.

To give you an idea, Sara had me watch The Constant Gardener starring Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz. It's extremely depressing but a good movie to watch as you are put right on location in Africa. I'm not going to give too much away but much of America and British interests seem to lie in money making rather than helping. It's really sad even if it's just a movie. Funny how Sara instantly told me that I'd like Rachel Weisz's character since she's extremely tough. That may be so but it's still a hard movie to sit through without feeling something.

As much as I'd love to get into seeing my friends in the gym, my former boss told me how much he's looking forward to my coming back in late September. Isn't that great when a slave-driver can't wait to have you sweating yo' lil' ass off? The great thing is that Ugly (remember her?) might be coming back. Can we say, "Hooray for weirdos?"

Ugly. How do I give you an idea as to who this woman is? Just think of a 30-something-year-old woman completely infatuated with a guy that smells so bad. Add all that to Ugly giving Stinky a note during work. Conclude with her running off like a hippo with explosive diarrhea thanks to being majorly shy. That good ol' drama just might be back this year as my boss and I wonder when this woman will ever be kissed. By the way, Stinky has never been with a girl but we know he jacks off to anime porn. Ladies, he is so available.

So, there you have it. I'm wanted back at work, my computer has been a jukebox, and I've got lots of Keira pictures to put into my collage. There's a small amount of friskiness within me since I feel so calm again. Love that feeling but I'm going to discuss Alfred Kinsey soon since we all love a good sex discussion. Ladies, toss your panties in the air! Happy twats all around.
