You don't have to explain all that, it's fairly obvious that anyone would benefit from exercising, eating right, etc. I often look at people I know and feel the same way - why won't they take better care of themselves??? But I realize it is perhaps easier for people like you and I than it is for others. I've got good genes; I've been underweight and pretty athletic my whole life, so being healthy is something that's ingrained in me. But food can be an extreme and serious addiction for some people, something they've battled their whole lives and that goes beyond just a simple ice cream fetish. It would be like someone asking you why you haven't gotten a job and moved out yet. It ain't that easy, just as there's not always a quick fix for people with food addictions.

Erm, I disagree. While they are two different issues, I believe that in the most average of cases, control of either situation lies with the individual. Just as people can't blame McDonald's for making them fat, they can't blame an employer every time they get rejected from a job. Put it this way, the common denominator is always the individual.
